I created a 3D rendering of a rocket ship from scratch by using shapes, brushes, gradient and filter techniques.

The only images not from “scratch” here are a fire and a stone texture which still required a bit of editing to fit them seamlessly into the rest of the illustration as a planet and burning rocket fuel.

The purple rocket ship is created using lines and shapes. Depth is created from the use of light and shadow.

The final result is quite different when compared to the red rocket illustration.

In this project, I blended my love of art with design. These are a few personal drawings colored in Photoshop to look like prints. The common thread between all the pieces is the use of the same set of brushes to stylize and color them. I also used similar shapes and elements for the backgrounds. I hope to experiment more with this kind of rendering.

This stylized illustration was made using circular and line shapes on a grid layout. The white background illustration appears very computer-made, while the brown (kraft) background version has added distressing, making it’s appearance much more hand-made and almost like it was carefully drawn with chalk or pastel on paper.
